Tournament of Champions 2020/2021 (Day 1 of 3)

Tournament of Champions (TOC) 2020/2021
Three-day Tournament - March 23 - 25 - 27

The Tournament of Champions (TOC) is a season-long event, patterned after the PGA’s FedEx Cup. TOC points are awarded in each game and event played during the season. Game points are based on the “Quota” game, while event points are based on the format of the particular event.

At the end of the season, the top 16 players face off in an 18 hole quota game. This game has a large TOC point pool and can change the makeup of the next game which is paired down to the top 12 players. That game again has an even larger TOC point pool and brings the event down to the “Final Four”. The “Final Four” will usually enter the last day with all of those players remaining still having a chance to be The TOC Champion.

This season, I have taken a “new” idea from the FedEx Cup. In the first match of The TOC:

  • Players in positions 16-15-14-13 will start the round with three (3) quota points.
  • Players in positions 12-11-10-9 will start the round with two (2) quota points.
  • Players in positions 8-7-6-5 will start the round with one (1) quota point.
  • The top four positions will play from scratch.

In the second round of The TOC:

  • Players in position 12-11-10-9 will start with two (2) quota points.
  • Players in positions 8-7-6-5 will start with one (1) quota point.
  • Again, the top four will play scratch.

This all changes in the “Final Four”:

  • The player in the number one (1) position will start with three (3) quota points
  • Player number two (2) will start with two(2) quota points
  • Player three (3) will start with one (1) quota point.
  • Player four will play from scratch.

We anticipate The TOC pool this season to be between $3,000 and $3,500. We pay out for all 16 places, with the winner receiving the lion’s share of the pot.
