The Ryder Cup 2021 (Day 1 of 3)
Ryder Cup 2021
2020/2021 Season Ryder Cup March 9 – 11 – 13
The Ryder Cup matches are the highlight of “The Game” at The Strand. They are anticipated from the very first event of the season and talked about for years following the matches. Several years of team photos highlight the opening page of our web site.
For the 2020/2021 Season Ryder Cup, there will be a slight change from previous years. First off, the event will now encompass three (3) days rather than two (2). The Captains will be the Tournament of Champions (TOC) point leaders following the February 2nd, Two-Man Alternate Shot Tournament. The Captains will select the names for their teams and the players for their teams (from those who have signed up) immediately following the Alternate Shot results.
The biggest change in the Ryder Cup this year is the format:
- The Scramble will be an 18-hole match rather than 9 holes, as in the past.
- The individual matches will also be 18-holes rather than 9 holes.
- The Two-Man Best Ball and the Two-Man Alternate Shot will continue to be nine hole events.
Another change to the Ryder Cup, is the addition of more TOC points:
- The winners of the Scramble and Individual matches will each receive 100 TOC points.
- The winners of the Two-Man Best Ball and Alternate Shot matches will each receive 50 TOC points.
- Members of the winning Ryder Cup team will each receive an additional 500 TOC points.
The winning Ryder Cup team will be honored at the annual awards banquet at the end of the season.
